First Impression

On entering the class I saw a man standing in the corner with arms crossed with no smile on his face and was just staring at the students as they entered the class. The impression that I had of Amitesh Sir was that he is a someone who is unfriendly and rude in nature because ones first reaction on seeing someone is to atleast to pass a smile if not say anything but he he did none of them. As they say first impression is the last impression and in my case it stands true as for me he is still the same kind of person who I saw at the first day and I can't change my views on him as I have made a mind set about him.

Castle Making

Castle making was a group activity where each group was suppose to have marshmallows  spaghetti, tape and strings. The objective of this activity was to make the tallest castle which should be strong and should stand on its own without falling. Limited time was given to do complete this task.
Our group started making the structure before planning on how to actually make it. At the end our castle did not stand on its own as we did not work as a team and didn't formulate a strong base before actually starting our work, we were in a hurry to complete the task.
This activity taught us that planning is the key to success because without that you will never be able to succeed. Also cooperation, coordination and patience is also required. Working as a team would make the work faster and easier. The base of the structure has to be always strong as a weak base would not let you rise high.

Needs and Wants; Given and Chosen Identity

This session of the workshop about needs and wants made me think how my needs are different from my wants. And I have always been confused of what I actually need and what i actually want. The need are all the basic necessities for my survival and my want is to buy  to a new macbook. This generation of people can't really differentiate between what they actually need and what they actually want which leads to a dilemma in their lives.
Needs are things that are required 24/7 and wants are things that gives me temporary happiness and satisfaction.

According to Maslow there is a hierarchy which shows that humans first fulfil their basic requirements, then their safety after which about their belongings and family, which leads to self esteem and self confidence and at the end self realisation which is the peak of their potential

There is huge difference between chosen and given identity. Chosen identity is what you actually want to be yourself and given identity is the identity given to us by society and that is something that can't be changed.
Our first given identity is given to us on the day of our birth which is our gender and our relations with each of our family members. Also our religion becomes a tag to us and we can't change it. These decisions mark us with a lot of responsibilities in life which need to be fulfilled.
The chosen identity is an identity which we inculcate in ourselves as we grow up and it is of our choice what we want to be identified as in our future. According to parents they want their children to be doctors or engineers but I  might want to be something every different like an make up artist. So it is our choice what we actually want to be and how we want our identity to be in society.
